You have one night to bring in your new donors. Every person that you select to stand before your guests, is a person that can make or break your success. Start out right with the Auctioneer that will create compelling moments, and entertain your guests in a way that will have them eagerly anticipating next year!
Do you hold any certifications ? The auction industry has many segments. Auctioneers earn certifications, making them experts, by attending courses offered by their state or the National Auctioneers Association. As a fundraiser you want a Benefit Auctioneer Specialist (BAS) certified auctioneer. BAS' raise on average 50% more funds on average than non-BAS auctioneers. BAS Auctioneers are continually educated in innovative ways to fundraise, using the auction method. Do you provide consulting and what does it include? The BAS is an expert consultant/strategist, that makes the magic happens behind the scenes before your event begins. They provide advice regarding all aspects of fundraising. Your auctioneer should provide ideas, give you ideas on how to double and triple your revenue, and best practices to ease stress on event night. Commonly, your BAS is not going to be the one to show up and bid call. They are going to partner with you, regardless of how much time you have until your event, to provide peace of mind. What additional services do you offer? Does check in, check out, or silent auction styling make your head want to explode? Auction software is a wonderful resource, as are fancy decorations, however, the expense(s) could exceed capacity. Your BAS may have alternative solutions to keep event costs low, while maintaining efficiency. Who will be the auctioneer the night of our event? Some auction companies have a team of auctioneers. Make sure you are building rapport with the person who will serve as your event night advocate. Can you provide references or videos? You have one night to get it right. Review video, call their references, make sure you are hiring the right talent to enhance your night.

I love how you mentioned that you should hire an auctioneer that is licensed or bonded. I think it's even better if they are both, as it gives both parties more protection. My friend wants to have a charity auction, so these tips will help her find a great auctioneer. Thank you so much for sharing these helpful tips.

Thanks for pointing out that they must have certifications that will show the courses that they have attended which are offered by their state. I will keep that in mind and look for it since we need their services. It is for the paintings of my grandfather that we plan to sell and give the money to an orphanage. He stated that in his will since he was an orphan before, and he wanted to help the place that helped him back then.

I never knew that many sates require auctioneers to be licensed. My husband and I are running an auction and we've wanted to hire an auctioneer to help us. We'll keep this in mind if we decide to hire one.

It's crazy that a BAS raises around 50% more than just a regular auctioneer. It makes you wonder how they do so much better. I'm helping organize a fundraiser for my daughter's club, so I'll definitely hire a benefit auctioneer specialist for the occasion.
